Understanding by Design (UbD) Stage 2
During Stage 2 of the UbD, the adult should identify the assessments that will be the criteria for determining the learner's level of mastery achieved in understanding the concept being presented to the student. The evidence of mastery will be determined by the student's ability to apply the learned knowledge or skill in a "new" or different setting. A valuable tool for assessing level of mastery is to employ a rubric. Rubrics are useful to identify specific criteria for the level of mastery achieved by a child.
