Understanding by Design (UbD) Stage 3
UbD Stage 3 is the time for developing the specific learning activities that students will utilize to facilitate the learning process in a self-directed manner.
It is crucial that the learning activities are aligned with the content standards, common core, and developmentally appropriate practices.
To ensure that the learning activities are aligned properly with the standards:
1. Make sure the child knows what is expected of him/her
2. Create a learning environment that holds the child's attention
3. Give each child the necessary advanced organizers to move toward mastery learning
4. Provide children with ample opportunity to reflect on their actions and revise their actions
5. Nurture self-assessment as a tool for revising strategies that are limiting mastery
6. Offer varied learning activities that can be tailored to individual learning styles
7. Organize learning activities to optimize active student engagement
